One of the toughest decisions a person can make is selecting the right home based business, Network Marketing Business, or MLM for them. With the extremely high failure rate of most within the first 90 days, it is critical to choose the right one and not get taken.
So, I will focus on what the first time Home Based or Network Marketing Business Owner / MLM er should look for. This also applies to anyone who has given it a shot or two and just has not enjoyed the success they thought they should have.
This is the only time in the business that I will tell you, It is not only alright, it is absolutely necessary for you to be selfish when considering a selection. My first thought is to look at the person showing you the opportunity. Look them straight in the eye, and ask them ? ?What value do you bring to my success?? What will your sponsor do to ensure that you are not a failure. What will they do as far as training, support, encouragement? If, your sponsor?s solution to lead generation is only to make a list of your ?warm market? ? that list of 100 family members, associates, friends, and soon to be ex-friends (a little sarcasm for your enjoyment) ? take the Knights of the Round Table from Monty Python and the Holy Grail?s advice ? Run Away!!!
You can pretty much tell how hungry they are by the urgency and force with which they propose their opportunity to you. If, they are genuine, they will allow you time to investigate, time to explore, and time to decide. I am quite confident that once you see how my company and I can help solve one of your burning needs, you?ll call me. However, if, your future sponsor tells you to join now, and doesn?t give you time to investigate or explore ? once again ? run away. The hungry and the desperate are too busy trying to survive to help you succeed.
Ask the potential sponsor to show you the training on their company?s website. Some of them have outstanding training, most have at least good training.
Ask yourself,
Is this something I can do?
Is this something I can get excited about?
Has my sponsor been truthful with me about expectations and projections? (no, you won?t have that car next month, and you won?t qualify for the cruise the week after, and you won?t be a millionaire by the end of the year.)
Is this simple enough that I can master it in a short while?
Has my potential sponsor taken a personal interest in my success or will I just be another number in their downline?
Does my potential sponsor know enough tricks of the trade to get me on the right path quickly?
Hey, potential sponsor ? tell me ? how do you generate leads ? teach me 2 or 3 before I start ? just so I know I can be successful.
Now, on the flip side ? remember ? the people you bring into your business should be asking you the exact same questions. When you join, what value will you provide to your downline? Your personal growth is penultimate. Read everything about the business you can ? devote at least 10 minutes / day to reading about lead generation / sales closings, etc. Listen to a tape or CD at least once a week. Attend every meeting / conference your company offers. Make friends with others not only in your company, but in other companies as well. Share ? share ? share. Once you have your business, the rule is ? ?Givers Gain?. The more you give away, the more you get in return. Give away your knowledge, give away your experience, give away the things to avoid ? people will respect and admire you for it, and flock to your team.
Acknowledge the ultimate truth right now ? Your Home Based / Network Marketing / MLM Business will only be as successful as the members on your team. Your job is to learn, to share, to develop, and to build leaders. You cannot do it alone, and once you have a new team member, spend time with them to ensure their success before moving on to the next new team member. You will develop a long lasting and productive team by giving them the skills to replicate what you do, and ensuring that they do the same for their new team members.
