Too many times, we meet people who are rich and successful, yet are not happy. It's very easy to get lost in the midst of success without ever knowing the feeling of true satisfaction and fulfilment. When this happens, somehow success is not as satisfying as it should be, and all the perks that come with success are not as enjoyable as you would prefer it.
It is not good to let this dissatisfaction go on. If you let it remain as unfulfilling as it already is, slowly, you will lose your motivation to succeed. Why go on if triumph isn't sweet, right? The secret lies in knowing how to feel fulfilled while being successful.
Here are a few secrets on how to achieve this elusive peace of mind.
Learn how to be satisfied. Are you fully aware of what it really takes to make you happy? Knowing what it is exactly is the best way to ensure that you appreciate what you have. Stop wishing for more when you know you are already happy with what you have. Know the value of "just enough." It's a matter of being contented - because a person who seems to have no end to his pursuit of success will never know fulfillment. It will always be a constant search, a constant push, a never-ending process of trying to look for something that all the while was already present.
Learn to love what you have and what you do. This is simple - when you have no love for the things you do to bring you success, you will never have fulfilment. Try to search for something you are passionate about, and pursue it with vigour! You need to realize that there are just too many rich people out there who are totally unhappy despite their riches. Money and fame are not the sole determinants of fulfilment - joy and satisfaction are. You cannot buy happiness with a ton of money, sure you can buy material things or temporary pleasures, but they don't really give you lasting self-fulfilment.
Learn to avoid self-destructing. Stop undermining your efforts and downplaying your success! Most of the time, people should already feel proud of what they've done, but start trekking on that dark path to doubt and self-destruction. Don't do things that will put your success in a bad light, or be the cause of much dissatisfaction. Don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal - success that is achieved through any of these 3 means will never be fulfilling. It will be fleeting and totally empty and pointless.
Realise that it's never too late to change your life. Whether we've been stuck in a hole all our lives or have just recently fallen into one, there's no time like the present to dig ourselves out and make the move toward our own idea of success. Remember that for as long as you're still living and breathing, you can still try harder and continue towards the road towards c=success and fulfilment. If you are, however successful but are not feeling much happiness from what you are doing, it's never too late to take a different path and make that slow climb towards the top. At least this time, you know that what you're doing will surely bring you the happiness and fulfilment you have been longing for.
Each person's ability to feel happy and fulfilled is something that is felt in the heart, and not in the wallet. You may have all those trophies, luxury cars, buildings and mansions, but if none of these bring you real lasting happiness, then in the end you realize that you're not successful after all?
