It's been a long day - you've either been at work, doing some grocery shopping or simply waiting out a dreary day off - and you find a plain envelope with your name and address printed on the front in a simple cursive written in dark red ink sitting inside your letterbox...
Dear Reader, I believe there is a set path to life. Do you know why? I never thought I'd see you again. After what you did, I never even hoped to see you again. There you were, though... Walking by me in the street, back into my life, back into my mind. I knew you so well and now I know you entirely. Don't believe me? I'm about to prove I know your mind completely, From a friend - or should that be 'enemy'?
So think of a number between zero and four-eighty.
Please open the other envelope
And then we'll see how well you cope
When your days are numbered - one, two, three!
How much longer will you last?
Of course, you assume that this is just a ridiculous prank. No one you know would ever send something so strange. Did the writer of this note really presume to know what number you'd think of out of so many possibilities? You decide to test this amusing prankster's so-called 'knowledge' - the number that popped into your head? One. Nine. Eight.
You open the smaller envelope that had been tucked in with the first letter and read on...
Your number is one-nine-eight. Send ?238.93 to the following address - on a cheque, please - to repay me for what you've done me wrong. James Lewis And here you thought I wouldn't get it right...
198DesignStudio
Port Dundas Business Park
Glasgow
Well, my friend, the countdown starts tonight.
You have three days to solve my game
And if you get it wrong you've only yourself to blame.
Now you and I have a date,
One-nine-eight.
And that's how we'll start the roleplay - your character, be it man, woman, rich, poor, ugly or beautiful, will receive this threatening letter from an unknown sender. They don't know 'James Lewis' and have no connection to '198DesignStudio' - other than the number that they thought of.
Your Role
I'm going to give you some artistic licence here. This roleplay is going to start a little slow with the characters receiving their letters and their reactions to the correspondence. Eventually, they will all meet in Port Dundas Business Park, Glasgow. Please remember that they only have three days before their time is up, so I wouldn't have them living too far out of Glasgow otherwise they're going to run out of time before they can even investigate who is sending them these letters!
You have complete control over what your character is other than that they must be human and they must be older than twenty-five. The sender isn't going to be sending any letters to children, teenagers or alien species, so if you submit one, I'm afraid they won't be receiving a letter! I only expect one or two posts a week. I do not expect novels every day, nor do I want one-sentence posts. I expect a decent-sized post that conveys the necessary information. That is all.
We only need a few more characters to start the roleplay (again) after a few people left without notice/never posted/posted rubbish. There will be a new forum topic for the posts to go on, but until I've got a few more characters I won't be starting it up. Note that this roleplay had to be restarted - there are already a few characters in this roleplay that may not yet have been transferred to the new tab.
So drop us a note here or click on the image at the top of this post to get to the roleplay and submit a character!
