He defeated little-known Democrat Donald Hodge, who criticized Donelon for receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from insurance companies.A former lawmaker, Donelon said he's approached the insurance regulatory post fairly, increasing competition to the state and stabilizing a market ravaged by four hurricanes since 2005.Donelon has been insurance commissioner since 2006.
