Glass Man-made or natural?

The answer to this question is both!

Natural glass known as obsidian. Our ancestors tried to imitate curious and inventive, what they saw in nature. They noted that the loose sand when it was put through the fire and enjoyed the results. Centuries later, the development of glass, which we launched today.

Just as it is made ??of glass these days?

Ingredients

To glass you need the following ingredients:

Silica (sand)
SodiumCarbonate
Calcium oxide (from limestone)

A lot of heat!

Optional ingredients:

To achieve this, different effects such as color, you can select one or more of the following options:

Cullet (recycled glass ? see below in the recycling area
Magnesium or aluminum (instead of calcium oxide are used)
Lead (if you want to make crystal glasses)
Boron (change the thermal and electrical properties)
Lanthanum oxide (if you're the best lightreflective properties)
Iron (to absorb infrared energy)
Color (the color change with the addition of various metals and oxides)
Coatings (you might want to hand the glass to give a special finish.)

More hot!

Process

1st Heat your ingredients 1500-1600 ? C and bake for up to 50 hours.
2nd For float (sheet) glass, so that the molten glass flow into a bed of molten tin. Add all you want to use the coatings could and let cool down slowlyin a textbook.
3rd For containers and glasses, first a "comparison" or pre-shaped (often in the shape of the bottle miniature) by pressing or blowing a bubble of molten glass (called a blood clot) in a form using a mold. Place the pre-form into another form and use of compressed air to push out the sides and the final shape of the bottle or glass. Cool, cool down heat and leave again (this prevents breakage).

Do not try this at home!

Recycling

Glass is a greatMaterials are recycled ? can be reused over and over again. It saves raw materials and requires much lower temperatures.

If you are sending the recycled glass is cleaned, sorted by color and treated to remove impurities. This will leave "junk". This complements the raw materials, where it dissolves quickly and is added to the mixture.

Now you have a brief knowledge of how glass is made!
